Posted on April 12, 2017 at 9:44 AM by Laura Oldham

On April 11, 2017, at approximately 2:42pm, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Grandview Ave regarding an individual that was acting suspicious in a business parking lot. Officers located the person, later identified as Jason Christian, DOB 11/20/1984. Christian was in the process of removing lug nuts off of a parked vehicle. He attempted to leave when officers were observed approaching but was quickly detained. Christian is a known theft suspect in Grandview Heights and other neighboring jurisdictions.

Two tires with rims and several cement blocks were observed in the back seat of the vehicle that Christian was driving. A vehicle was located behind a nearby business that was sitting on cement blocks and two of the tires had been removed. The tires that were in Christian’s back seat matched the other two tires on the vehicle. The victim reported that he had just purchased the tires less than two weeks ago.

Christian was interviewed and admitted to stealing the tires. In addition, prior to committing this theft offense, Christian was at the Grandview Heights municipal building where he had a 1:00pm mayor’s court hearing for a previously issued traffic violation.

Christian was charged with one count of theft and one count of possessing criminal tools, both felonies of the 5th degree.
